I was napping on the grass in my gammer's backgarden
When a beetle came to me and spoke to me, so magical!
"Would you like to see the world?" it asked, and I nodded fast
And into my pocket it jumped
Then all started spinning...
"I will show you all the world"
Those were the beetle's words
"Let me show you all the world"
And it showed me all it could
I flew over mountains cold, above wide plains and barren wold
They were swarmed by the strangest creatures, quite unimaginable!
I floated over to the Moon and danced with all the brightest stars
I tasted sweet clouds and some snow of the highest mountain peaks
It was the finest thing!
"I will show you all the world"
"Would you like to see some more?"
Those were the beetle's words
So it showed me all the world
Suddenly I heard how someone dear was calling me
It woke me from the lovely dream!
Gammer called me inside, as it was close to the dinner time
A beetle hopped out of my pocket and disappeared in the grass
Was it a dream at all?
Did I really see the world?
Now I will never know
Did I really see the world?
Now I will never know
That was the strangest dream
That was the strangest dream
That was the strangest dream
About the song
This song was inspired when I once took a nap and found a beetle next to me. I might have had some strange naps before that! The lyrics are best sung to a song by the Beatles, Across the Universe.
