Homewards Ride

You crawl out through the round inn door
Your legs don't want to walk anymore
But don't you worry, just come and grab my small hand

Your head spins thanks to Barmy's beer
The bouncing gave your trousers a big tear
Naught to worry though, I will proudly guide you back home

And I will take you home
No need to feel alone
On this merry homewards ride
The stars will lead us there
Enjoy the fresh night air
On this merry homewards ride

On the road we babble, cheer and smile
We stop for berries and take the our time
No need to hurry now, we have all the night on our hands

The week has been long and full of chores
We could have gone to our beds and snore
But still we want to enjoy each and every moment of this night

And let me take you home
No need to feel alone
On this merry homewards ride
The stars will lead us there
Enjoy the fresh night air
On this merry homewards ride

On these rides new friendships may be born
All can change as night turns to morn
May it last forever still in our memories

And let me take you home
No need to feel alone
On this merry homewards ride
The stars will lead us there
Enjoy the fresh night air
On this merry homewards ride

Now that we reach our homes
We don't feel alone
'Cause home is where your friends are too
The stars had led us here
All that you need is here
Home is where your friends are too

About the song

After the Green Dragon Fridays, some of us hobbits mount their ponies and start a slow ride towards the Shire homesteads. It is a chance to gossip a little more before jumping into bed and pick some berries by the road. Here is a song to hum during the homewards ride, best sung to a tune by Mumford and Sons, the Cave.
