Picnic Pie

‘Twas midsummer in the Southern Farthing
One pleasant mornin’ in the month of June
As I was gardenin’, I heard her singin’
She came down hummin’ a sweet picnic tune

Her song was lovely, yet it made me hungry
My belly rumbled loud, and I had to sigh
But in her basket was a well-kept secret:
She’d brought a homemade sweet picnic pie

Chorus:
She had no jools, no costly diamonds
She had the fairest eyes as blue as sky
Her touch felt warmer than the summer sunlight
And in her basket was a picnic pie

We sat for hours among the flowers
I munched the picnic pie and enjoyed her song
But as the night fell, she bade me farewell
And like that pie we ate, the spell was gone

Chorus:
She had no jools, no costly diamonds
She had the fairest eyes as blue as sky
Her touch felt warmer than the summer sunlight
And in her basket was a picnic pie

About the song

Here are the first song lyrics I have written for the Songburrow Strollers, another kinship band of the Grand Order. Surprise, surprise: it's a pie song again! The song is best sung to Galway Shawl. Below my favourite version of the song, although it's a longer version than the one I wrote the lyrics for. Feel free to create lyrics for the missing verses!

Dervish - The Galway Shawl (feat. Steve Earle)

Pieland

When I was just a restless hobbit lass
I heard the call of exciting foreign lands
I decided to get out and leave my home behind me
I ended up in the busy town of Bree
It seemed the right fit for me
Much to do, much to see, it was so very thrilling

Yet I found out: there is one thing
I miss the most of all:
The pies of the Shire
They are quite unequalled
So I am heading to my home sweet home
To enjoy the pies of my dreams
Come and join me, if you please

I am going to the Pieland
Ruled by pies of the highest quality
Full of comfort of the best sort
That's my kind of pie
I am going to the Pieland
Where pies lie on every windowsill
Pies aplenty
That's all I need
All I need

In the Pieland, when I was a child
I remember the first time I ate a pie
That sweet taste made to last
As my dearest memory
Pies are the heart of every merry feast
They cheer up everyone from west to east
Berry tarts, mushroom pies
All you can desire

Take my hand, pounce to Pieland
Shire pies wait for you
Loved by pierates, grumpy gaffers
Boffins, Baggins, Grubbs and Tooks
Let’s go back to home sweet home
To enjoy the pies of our dreams
Come and join me, if you please

I am going to the Pieland
Ruled by pies of the highest quality
Full of comfort of the best sort
That's my kind of pie
I am going to the Pieland
Where pies lie on every windowsill
Pies aplenty
That's all I need
I love my Pieland, it's the best land
You see

Come Pieland, I can promise
It keeps you merry for eternity

I am going to the Pieland
Ruled by pies of the highest quality
Full of comfort of the best sort
That's my kind of pie
I am going to the Pieland
Where pies lie on every windowsill
Pies aplenty
That's all I need
I love my Pieland, it's the best land
You see
My Pieland
Pies aplenty
It’s all I need
All I need
It’s all I need
All I need

About the song

I love the Highland song by Blackmore's Night and wanted to make ingame lyrics for it. The original lyrics gave me inspiration to turn it into a song about Pieland, also known as the Shire. Here's the original tune, hum along!
